Plastic Surgery Procedures

The Road to Beauty: Overview
When considering plastic surgery, especially for the first time, it is important to follow a certain path to ensure your plastic surgery procedure goes smoothly and your results are maximized. Before you begin, you will want to research your desired plastic surgery procedure first. Below, board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Mark Mausner provides honest answers to your questions about the following:

After you have done your plastic surgery procedure research, and you are ready to see how it can help you feel beautiful, take a look at this simple yet concise list of steps to give you an idea of how the plastic surgery process works.

Step 1 — Contacting our Office
Often the first contact a patient has with our office is by phone, but we get many requests for a consultation through the internet. Nehal or Edith will greet you, assess the type of plastic surgery procedure(s) you need and schedule a date that will work for your busy schedule. This meeting is vital for the success of your plastic surgery procedure.

You will be sent a welcome packet that includes information about our office, an understanding about the plastic surgery procedure(s) you requested, your appointment card and a patient data sheet which can be completed in the privacy of your home.

Step 2 — The Consultation
During this visit, Dr. Mausner will discuss your needs and the techniques available to achieve optimal results. Through videotapes, brochures, viewing pre- and post-op photos and your private consultation with Dr. Mausner, you will develop an understanding of the plastic surgery procedure that is right for you and the expected outcomes. At the same time, Dr. Mausner will have an opportunity to determine if you have realistic goals, are appropriately motivated for surgery and are a good candidate for the chose plastic surgery procedure.

Step 3 — Financing
We accept cash, certified checks, money orders or credit cards (MasterCard, VISA and Discover cards). Although many patients pay for their procedure with cash, check or credit card, some seek plastic surgery financing to realize their dreams. We have a long-standing relationship with several companies which can get you financed for virtually any procedure. You can even fill out your application online, and one of their agents will contact you with an answer within 24-hours. Don't let economic worries dictate what you can or cannot accomplish; we can help you!

Step 4 — Scheduling Your Surgery
At the time of your initial consultation, you will meet with Karen, our patient liaison, who can schedule your surgery. To hold the date, a deposit will be required. You will receive information related to the surgery for which you are scheduled. Our plastic surgery staff is available to answer any additional plastic surgery questions and to show you representative before and after photos. It is important to note that many procedures will require time to rest and recover, therefore scheduling your surgery during vacation or a long holiday weekend is recommended.

Step 5 — Pre-op Visit
You will again meet with Dr. Mausner for an additional examination. At that time measurements and photographs will be taken. All pre- and post-operative instructions will be reviewed and you will receive all your prescriptions. If needed, you will be fitted for a surgical garment.

You will receive an pre-operative packet that contains complete information about all aspects of your upcoming plastic surgery procedure(s), including what to expect before and after surgery, medication information, financial information (including cancellation policies), a copy of your signed consent form (if requested) and the hospital experience. Karen will review this with you and can help you with your transportation, hotel or post-op care needs. During this visit you are required to pay the surgical fee in full. The hospital will contact you about paying the hospital fees (operating room, anesthesia fees, etc) directly.

Step 6 — Your Surgery
Your surgery will be performed in an out-patient setting and you will spend some time in the recovery room. You will need to have a responsible adult drive you home and ideally be with you for the first 48 hours. You will be given another copy of your post-operative instruction sheet and your post-op appointment card.

Step 7 — Follow-up Visits
Dr. Mausner strives to provide the most personal care available, and having a follow-up visit is not just recommended, it is required. Dr. Mausner will assess how you are healing, answer any questions you might have and make sure you are following the post-op instructions to achieve the best result possible.

Step 8 — Enjoy the New You
The ultimate goal of any plastic surgery procedure is to improve your physical appearance and increase your self-esteem. When you feel better about yourself it positively impacts on social and business relationships. So go out there and enjoy the new you! Share it with your friends and family or enjoy it privately.....it's your decision. Either way, the new and improved you is yours to keep!

Since each person's body is a work of art in itself, there is no "one size fits all" to any plastic surgery procedure. It is always best to seek the advice of a trusted, experienced surgeon like Dr. Mausner before settling on any decision.
