What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?
Laser Skin Resurfacing is an exciting new medical procedure which reverses the effects of the sun, wind and time by reducing wrinkles...without scalpels or stitches. The laser emits an intense beam of light that heats and treats the skin instantaneously with minimal damage to the normal surrounding skin.

As Dr. Mausner guides the laser's beam over the damaged or wrinkled skin, it gently removes the outer layers. Fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth and eyes are smoothed. Deep creases and frown lines will be softened and acne scars are minimized. Once the outer layer of skin has been removed, the new skin beneath is softer, smoother offering a more youthful appearance. For your comfort and safety, Laser Skin Resurfacing is performed in an out-patient setting under general anesthesia administered by a board-certified anesthesiologist.

What about recovery?
Generally, one can expect the face to "heal" in about 10 days following Laser Skin Resurfacing. During that time you are instructed to apply Acquaphor, avoid work and social commitments and wash the face gently. Although most of the early healing occurs in the first 2 weeks, the skin can remain red/pink for up to 3 - 6 months. During the later healing phase cover-up cosmetics can be used until the pink gradually disappears.
